Our Work

There’s a strong, vibrant, and talented human inside every child.

That’s why we provide mental and emotional health resources in classrooms, homes, and communities throughout Chicago. Because when kids, and the adults who surround them, have the tools they need to create healthy, supported relationships, they learn more, achieve more, and have brighter futures.

Our city is full of great kids. We’re here to make sure every single one of them gets the support they need to become who they are meant to be.

Our Programs & Services

Connect to Kids (C2K)

We work with elementary teachers to deepen their understanding of the social, emotional, and mental health issues their students are facing, the impact of trauma on young children, and how to best support their students.

School-Based Therapy

We equip Chicago’s schools with individual and small-group therapy for children affected by trauma to help them process emotions and create positive, caring relationships with their teachers and peers.

Child Welfare

We partner with Illinois public and private child welfare agencies to improve the quality and accessibility of services for every child in our city.

Professional Development

We provide responsive, customized resources and opportunities to the adults who work in Chicago’s schools, including principals, teachers, and administrative staff.

Building the Field of Social Work

We offer advanced clinical internships to a select group of graduate-level social workers, with a focus on supporting social workers of color entering the field.

Grandparent Circle

Through our partnership with the Grandmother Collective, we connect younger generations with the support and guidance of compassionate elders in their communities.

New Light Therapy Clinic

JPA’s private therapy practice expands our expertise beyond the school setting to provide in-person and telehealth therapy for children, families, and adults.

Neighborhood Clinics

Our year-round Neighborhood Clinics create support options for children and families outside of school.
