March 11, 2022: Remembering former JPA President and social justice Advocate, Josephine Minow
After teaching kindergarten and 5th grade at Francis W. Parker School in the late 1940s, she later became president of the Juvenile Protective Association originally founded by Jane Addams. While she was president, the meeting space didn’t allow women to enter through the front door — leading Ms. Baskin Minow to change their location in order to ensure every member could come through the same door.
December 9, 2021: Illinois Children’s Healthcare Foundation Invests $8.3 Million In Children’s Mental Health
The Illinois Children’s Healthcare Foundation (ILCHF) has responded with the COVID-19 School Wellness Initiative (CSWI) – a statewide effort to address the mental health needs of children, their caregivers and teachers in communities hardest hit by COVID-19. As part of this school wellness initiative, ILCHF recently awarded 29 two-year grants of up to $300,000 each, representing a total investment of more than $8 million.

October 12, 2021: A Better Chicago to grant $7M targeting mental health for CPS students recovering from pandemic learning loss - Chicago Sun-Times.
At the Juvenile Protective Association (JPA), a $950,000 grant will scale its 8-year-old Connect to Kids (C2K) program. Currently in 10 schools, C2K provides teachers with weekly social and emotional learning consultation throughout the school year.

At the Juvenile Protection Association — a 120-year-old organization that brings mental health professionals into the classroom to help students in under-resourced neighborhoods — the pandemic’s impact was felt immediately.
June 10, 2021: Finalists Selected in Multi-Million Dollar Chicago Whole Child Learning Acceleration and Wellness Initiative
As students across the city head into their final weeks of a school year rocked by the COVID-19 pandemic, a local venture philanthropy fund focused on supporting Chicago youth from cradle to career today announced eight finalists as part of its multi-million-dollar initiative to identify and invest in Chicago’s most promising innovations to accelerate learning recovery and promote wellbeing in communities disproportionately affected by the pandemic.
